About Prof. Matthew Cripps

Matthew works as a consultant, bringing together approaches in behavior change, population health care improvement, and enhancing value. He is currently working with a trust in the southeast of England on women’s health, removing glass ceilings, and optimizing equitable talent management and progression within the health care workforce.

He has worked for the NHS for 29 years, during which time he created and embedded NHS RightCare as a national improvement program in England. He then went on to become Director of Behaviour Change at NHS England, leading national programs including the COVID-19 Taskforce Behaviour Change Unit and National Menopause Improvement Programme. He also led the Welsh Government's discovery work on women's health, leading to their recent NHS Wales Women's Health 10-Year Plan.

Matthew is a Professor at Warwick Business School, with a focus on sustainable health systems and Honorary Professor of Population Healthcare Improvement at the University of Salford and was previously Professor of Business Processing and Knowledge Transfer at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School.

Matthew has held several director positions across local and national NHS bodies, including in Finance, Transformation and Improvement. He has written eight publications on sustainable health care improvement, finance, business process engineering, and behavior change.
