Reproductive health: Addressing the gaps

Women’s reproductive health encompasses many distinct life stages from puberty to menopause. Perimenopause is often a poorly defined, overlooked stage that represents women on the cusp of the reproductive period. As the Women’s Health Academy, we aim to improve understanding of physical, sexual, and mental health during perimenopause, supporting shared decision-making that involves women.

Menopause: Impact and opportunities

Women will spend ~40% of their lives after menopause.1 This period can come with many symptoms that significantly impact quality of life and may also increase the risk of adverse long-term health outcomes. As the Women’s Health Academy, we will work towards increased awareness and access to menopause-related information and services, promoting an individualized approach to care for women.

Publications

Women’s health has historically been understudied and poorly served by research communities. Many unmet needs remain, particularly in relation to perimenopause and menopause care. As the Women’s Health Academy, we aim to conduct literature research into knowledge gaps to inform our initiatives and utilize member-authored publications to raise awareness of issues and recommended solutions.
