About Dr. Maria Virginia Abalos
Dr. Maria Virginia S Abalos is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cebu Institute of Medicine, where she has been dedicated to teaching future physicians for over 30 years. She is the former Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Chong Hua Hospital and has extensive expertise in reproductive medicine and midlife women’s health. For decades, she served as Regional Director of the Philippine Society of Climacteric Medicine and currently sits on its Board of Trustees, where she chairs the Continuing Medical Education Committee and co-chairs the Annual Scientific Meetings. In recognition of her contributions, she has received numerous honors, including the Tatak UP Award, Most Outstanding Filipino Physician from the Philippine Medical Association and JCI Philippines, the Dr. Suga Sotto-Yuvienco Award of Excellence, and the UPMAS Outstanding Medical Service Award.
Through her academic, clinical, and organizational leadership, Dr. Abalos remains deeply committed to advancing the care and quality of life of women in midlife and beyond.
